Dr. Michael Dreikorn address at the 75th anniversary of raising a flag over Iwo Jima
I was honored to have 2 minutes to speak at the 75th anniversary commemoration of the US raising a flag over Iwo Jima, held on 02/23/2020 in Cape Coral, FL. The message is short and to the point, don't allow the sacrifices of those who have gone before us go to waste by allowing our country to be lead astray. In this 2020 election year, ensure you exercise your civic responsibility and vet the candidates for ALL the offices that you are to vote in, and chose wisely. This is important people, our freedom is at stake.

Michael Veterans Day Weekend
It is with great pride that I honor my fellow veterans who went before me and fought in conflicts around the world to secure the freedoms we enjoy. No matter who you are, you have something to give to this nation. If military service isn't something that works for you, there is something that you can offer your community and your nation. Those who invest in our country reap the greatest rewards from our country. Thank you to all who have served. Happy Veterans Day!
Florida Fishery Foundation Installs 100% Natural Oyster Habitats in the Caloosahatchee
On 26 October 2019, the Florida Fishery Foundation Installed 44 100% Natural Oyster Habitats in the Caloosahatchee River in two public areas of Ft Myers, Florida. Dr. Michael Dreikorn, board member of the Florida Fishery Foundation, said, “Oysters are natural filters, removing impurities from the water just by the way they circulate water through body. Each of our habitats has the potential to clean up-to 50,000 gallons of water per day, or up to 18 million gallons of water per year. That is simply amazing.” In addition to cleaning the waterways, habitats also attract more than 100 species of small fish and other crustaceans which then attract larger game fish. This eventually creates a natural reef environment around the habitats, and as described by Dreikorn, “becomes a fish magnet”. Fred Berson, Fort Myers City Councilman for Ward 5, said, “We are thrilled with these oyster habitats and look forward to seeing them develop and grow. Anything we can do to clean up the Caloosahatchee River and our surrounding waterways is a step in the right direction.” He encouraged local homeowners to help with the clean-up efforts and take advantage of the Ward 5 matching donation program by having oyster habitats installed under their own docks. Dr. Dreikorn added, “It’s no secret that we have faced challenges in our waterways with red tide, blue green algae and releases from Lake Okeechobee. We wanted to come up with a way to do something to clean up our waters and make them safe for people, fish and other marine life.” Habitat frames are constructed of 100% natural cedar, similar to age-old lobster and crab traps. The substrate is made from concrete and recycled oyster shells donated by local restaurants. Installers secure habitats in place with four separate heavy duty ropes, which are secured to the dock and/or pilings. The Florida Fishery Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization and can be contacted at www.FloridaFisheryFoundation.org

A Memorial Day Tribute to Ryan Jeschke - An American Patriot
On this, and every Memorial Day, it is our American duty to reflect and pay homage to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defending our American freedoms and liberty. It has been said, we harvest what we plant. And, in Arlington, Virginia there are 624 acres planted with the seeds of liberty. Each seed representing a proud American warfighter that paid the ultimate sacrifice for our American freedom. Regardless of where our fallen warfighters lay, they rest in honor and respect. We shall never forget. The missions are always different, as are the locations and reasons why. But, all of those who have fallen in the service of our great nation shall not be forgotten as they will live on in our memories, as we reflect on their individual lives, and their collective contributions and sacrifice. I ask, please carry the memories of our fallen warfighters with you this Memorial Day and every day. You can contribute to our American pride by passing our heritage and knowledge of the sacrifices made on to those you know, love, and/or encounter. For, our American story is indeed exceptional. God has Blessed America, but he has given the responsibility for ensuring liberty to us. So many have paid such a huge price, let’s not squander their sacrifices, let’s stay united in our American constitutional principles, and Let’s Roll! Have a blessed Memorial Day. A Memorial Day Tribute - Honoring Gunnery Sergeant Ryan Jeschke and our Other Fallen Warfighters. (2019)
1st Week of our All-American Grassroots Campaign
April 11th was our formal grassroots All-American campaign kick-off event and BBQ and we kept the momentum rolling from there.. This campaign is about ensuring the voice of the people is heard in Lee County government, and this first week has been a busy one indeed. I was honored to attend many events this past week and want to thank the Uncommon Friends organization for an evening honoring three great American heroes, Ladies Leading Right for their awesome gala recognizing Women of Distinction, the City of Cape Coral Special Events department for their off-the-hook Bike Nite, the Lee County Planning staff for an informative public information event on proposed changes to the Lee Plan for limestone mining, the Lee County republican Executive Committee for leading on principles, the Lehigh Acres Community Council for engaging their community and self-governing in rural unincorporated Lee County, and the Matlacha Civic Association for reaching out and educating their community on issues relevant to the island community. Expect to see us in your neighborhood soon! I want to listen to what YOU have to say. Let’s Roll! www.VoteDreikorn.com
Say NO to Annexation of Matlacha!
The City of Cape Coral has made notice of their intent to annex 6 properties in Matlacha. The annexation is not appropriate as it is not contiguous and would be in conflict with the surrounding Pine Island development requirements. Further, annexation would allow increased density at a critical evacuation bottleneck on Pine Island Road. The annexation meeting/hearing is scheduled for Dec. 12, 2016 at 430pm at the Cape Coral City Hall. Plan to be there and be heard. Let's roll!
